Earth Day Dawah

“And removing a harmful thing from the path is a charitable act.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

On April 25th Building Blocks  is facilitating an Earth day Da’wah event – a great opportunity to convey the Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW) -in collaboration with several local and international organizations.

Allah (SWT) says: “Behold, thy Lord said to the angels: “I will create a vicegerent on earth.” They said: “Wilt Thou place therein one who will make mischief therein and shed blood?- whilst we do celebrate Thy praises and glorify Thy holy (name)?” He said: “I know what ye know not.” (Surah Baqarah 2:30)

We were created and given the responsibility to be the earth’s protectors – enlivening the Sunnah on Earth Day is therefore a wonderful way to show our love for Allah (SWT) and the final Messenger (SAW).

On that day, we will partner locally with the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board to do Earth Day Cleanup along the Mississippi River from 9:30am-12:00pm. We are especially encouraging the youth to join us in these efforts that will increase their iman and brotherhood and sisterhood as well as convey the true message of Islam.

The registration fee is $10 per person which includes a “Who Do You Love” t-shirt, all cleaning materials, and an invitation to da’wah training and events that will take place all summer around the Twin Cities in coordination with over 60 countries around the world.

All masajid, organizations and schools that take part are also encouraged to organize a cleanup activity after Salatul Dhuhr on the same day around your masjid/organization/school and its neighborhood from 1:30-3:00pm. We will assist you with logistics and cleaning supplies. This effort is yet another way to take care of our environment, our neighbors and to build bridges of communication and understanding.

REGISTER YOUR TEAM by April 19th so we know how many people to expect. More details will be provided once you sign up inshaAllah.

Let’s work together to enliven the Sunnah and transform our values into action.
