To aid self development, promote activism, and bolster community building
A 501-c3 non profit organization, Building Blocks provides a platform for all concerned Muslims to practically apply Islamic principles and work together for the community’s advancement through the provision of social, educational, and religious services, as well as outreach programs to build bridges of mutual understanding with other communities.
Our Social Services are open to all people regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, creed or any other discriminatory factor prohibited by law.
“Community Building through enlivening the Sunnah”
We strive to enliven the example of the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) and the early generations of Muslims who “lived Islam” in every aspect of their lives. Islam provides the perfect roadmap for moral and social advancement and we envision vibrant and healthy environments where Islam’s lessons on charity are embraced and transformed into action on a daily basis for the good of all.
Sound communities are created out of shared effort and responsibility – each action by or for the sake of each individual is like a “building block” that reinforces the community. Thus, we aim to bring Muslims from all backgrounds to work together for the community’s well-being through means that are supported by authentic Islamic teachings – to enjoin good, help those in need, and above all, follow the commandments of Allah (Subhanahu wa Taala)
Defined by Islamic teachings on charity, activities in this project include visiting the sick in local hospitals, a food shelf, helping those in financial need, and providing social support for the elderly.
This project provides children’s education programs and family development programs.
This project serves young people through educational and social activities such as leadership and skills building, sports, tutoring, mentorship and study circles.
This project works to create awareness about Islam among Muslims and non-Muslims through presentations, workshops, open houses and distribution of educational packets. It also focuses on classes and mentorship networks for new Muslims.
Greater strides in social change can only be made through the collaborative efforts of many hands and minds, and organized and systematic means. We aim to provide those means. We now have more than 400 members from different cultures, backgrounds and ethnicities.
